Whendie Champ, Children’s Portrait Artist | Whendie has photographed children of all ages for 16 years. Children’s photography is her passion and capturing the true personality of a child. A veteran to children’s portraiture, her style can be described as whimsical, simple and natural, yet captivating. As Whendie progressed in her career, she realized how fond she was of photographing babies growing from newborns to toddlers. Her love for these little ones is apparent in all her work and capturing those precious years in our Miracle of Me Plan. Whendie prides herself in capturing the little moments in a child’s life and telling a life story through each foot, finger, eyes, the perfect smile, and finally the independence of walking.
A typical session | Although most clients bring their babies to Mr. C’s Photography where the light is consistent and all the props are close at hand, we do hold sessions on location as well as in the comfort of the client’s home. Most parents can expect a session to last between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the comfort level of the child. In a Newborn Session, we take care in providing plenty of time for feedings, soothing and a variety of poses and set ups for your baby’s unique gallery of images. We try our best to create a peaceful environment where a child can feel at home and relax. If this is your first time visiting us, bring your child in a few days prior to your session to familiarize them with the shooting rooms, your photographer, and the staff.
The Gallery & Client Viewing | Approximately 5 to 7 days after your session, you will come in for a Viewing Appointment. At the appointment you will be able to view all the images from your session and place an order. At this appointment we will review all of our packages, specials, and options available to you. Also after the Viewing Appointment you will be able to view all your images on-line. At the time of your appointment you will be given your password and instructions on how to access the images. A link can also be e-mailed to you. Feel free to pass this link along to anyone who may be interested in viewing your portraits. This will allow you, your friends, and family members to view the images on-line. Also you can make your order at a later date after you view your images online.
What to Wear | You will want to avoid yellow or red clothing since young skin will reflect these colors making the baby look more yellow or red. Also we will remove the baby’s socks as soon as the session starts since most socks have elastic and will leave marks on the baby’s legs. We encourage you to bring multiple outfits to showcase your child’s many looks from playful to inquisitive. We suggest that you start with your favorite outfit, as children sometimes can tire quickly. For a newborn avoid collars or ruffles around the neck, or clothing that is large or too big. These outfits will take away from your child in his or her portraiture.
Props & Backgrounds | Please feel free to bring any props or toys. This will help our photographer bring out the personality of your child and personalize your session. Also these personal items may help calm and relax your child. If you would like a specific set-up, background or photo style, please let us know 48 hours in advance so that we can accommodate you. Also for ideas on props and backgrounds visit our website at www.mrcsphoto.com and view our children’s portfolio. We are always happy to set up a consultation with you so you can visit our studio and view our props and backgrounds. So be creative and let us help you develop a life story of your child that will be treasured for years to come.
